On Who & Where I Am

On Who & Where I Am

Last month, I sent this short list to my TinyLetter subscribers. I was more or less just setting the stage for who and where I am in my life right now, the place from where this blog, business, and next chapter begins.

It felt appropriate to make that list public, so, here it is.

Here is where this next chapter begins and from where this blog and business will grow.

  • I am 35 years old (until May, but let’s not rush this).

  • I live in Portland, Oregon.

  • One week a ago, I left my full-time job as a FOH manager in a downtown Portland fine-dining restaurant to make a near-complete career change and overhaul.

    • This career change includes my own private practice as well as a new position with a local healthcare provider, of whose mission I am fully invested in.

  • On that note, I realized I’ve consistently changed careers (not jobs, careers) every 4.5 years since I finished college (2005).

  • I identify as bisexual, and my partner and I are in an open relationship, learning our way around ethical non-monogamy. I came out (as bi) last October, and my only regret is not having done it sooner, especially considering it was a surprise to literally no one. I still wrestle a little with feeling so conflicted about something “everyone knew” for so long and yet still being so concerned with what they thought. More on that later.

  • I am a health coach, focused on sustainable habit-change and practical self-care. I currently am exploring what it means to understand our subconscious thought patterns and how we can unlearn limiting beliefs and behaviors.

Themes & Things I am Exploring RN

  • courageous vulnerability

  • the relationship between past trauma and mindfulness

  • the influence of family (ancestry) on our thought patterns and subsequent learned behaviors

  • financial freedom (and discipline)

  • learning the art of chilling the fuck out

  • NOT SHRINKING for other people (definitely more on this later)

Anyway, that’s where I’m starting from! If that resonates, stick around :)
